The CNT militias, also called confederal militias, were a popular militia movement organized during the Spanish Civil War by Spain's dominant anarchist organizations: the National Confederation of Labor (CNT) and the Iberian Anarchist Federation (FAI). These militias played an important role in the Spanish social revolution of 1936. They were not the only ones, since in this revolution other militias belonging to other organizations, parties and unions played a minor role (although important in the war).
